Aidan's medical procedure

Donation protected
In an unimaginable accident three years ago, when Aidan Doran was 8 years old he walked into the backswing of a machete during yardwork. He was rushed into emergency surgery, where they were able to save his eye, but not his vision. He has had several surgeries since the accident, and has recovered and persevered through every challenge and obstacle he has encountered.

Aidan's current challenge is that because the accident left the injured eye smaller than the other, his facial bones are not developing properly. He needs a cosmetic shield (scleral shell) in order for his facial bones to develop correctly around the eye socket. A cosmetic shield is similar to a glass eye, but it fits over the existing damaged eye so precisely that it will appear to track with the healthy eye. It is also designed and painted to look exactly like his healthy eye. They redesign and refit the scleral shell every 5 years.

Even though this is a necessary surgery, insurance companies are denying the claim, and there is no option for a payment plan. I am asking people to donate what you can this holiday season. Every little bit helps. Time is of the essence, because Aidan cannot have the fitting and receive his cosmetic shield until the Doran family can pay in full the day of the visit.

Thank you for your generosity and compassion.
