It's my 68th birthday this August 29th and I need a generous favor, a gift to Agape, Inc. Our friends and families in Maine are being afflicted by an ongoing opiate crisis. As you may know, I co-founded a not-for-profit, Agape Inc., Dignity for Opiate Users with the mission "To develop a radical community based movement with a comprehensive approach that promotes dignity and ends discrimination for opiate users."
This is a effort with urgent hope that people will come together to work to provide real help to those whose lives are in danger of being taken from us. A simple gesture of humanity to help another human being to be successful within our community. Critical help for people unable to afford or receive the treatment and care they deserve without shame or stigma. They need our compassion.
Donations are used to distribute Narcan to 1400 people close to those at high-risk in the greater Portland community, and train them how to properly use it. Additionally, we can fund the first week of housing in a sober community which puts those at risk into a community that helps. Also we fund $150/month stipends for community activists - those on the street actively engaging the at risk community.
With 418 lives lost in 2017, Maine is 4th in the nation of states being ravaged by the scourge of the opiate epidemic. Thank you for your donation of $50 or more. Donations administered by Agape Inc., Dignity for Opiate Users at 25 Middle Street in Portland, Maine.
