The African Diaspora Museum of Chicago (ADMC), will have its Grand Opening with this exhibition abroad on November 24, 2017, 18:00 pm. at the Grand Theatre National in Dakar, Senegal; honoring the late Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, and his research on the African Origin of Civilization.
Dr. Ana Vicky Castillo, Founder and CEO will be taking original paintings, artworks, and reproduced portraits of the Black Pharaohs from Egypt and Nubia as well as the colossal headstones from the Olmec Civilization in Mexico, on a ten-day journey to Senegal where she will celebrate the opening of the exhibit in Africa at the birth country of one of Africa’s most influential scholars, Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop.
Dr. Diop was born in 1923, at Diourbel, Senegal. He received his Master of Arts and his Doctorate from the University of Paris. In 1961 he directed the radiocarbon laboratory which he founded. In 1966, at the First Festival of Negro Arts, he shared a special award with the late W.E.B. DuBois, as the writer who had exerted the greatest influence on Negro thought in the twentieth century.
The exhibition, THE TRUTH: The Greatness of the Ancient African Civilizations’ Legacy to Humanity, is based on his historical method and conception; which reflects Dr. Diop varied background as historian, physicist, and philosopher. His research demonstrates that ancient Pharaonic Egyptian civilization was undoubtedly a Black civilization. To defend his thesis, anthropological, ethnological, linguistic, historical, and cultural arguments were provided to prove their validity. His research was very controversial because it refuted many ideas previously presented by Egyptologists, archaeologists, linguists, and historians. His research, which is not presented without supporting data, has the astonishing effect of inverting Western cultural assumptions. Diop demonstrated that ancient Egyptian were Black Africans and European civilization is but a derivation of African achievement.
As the African proverb says, “Until the lions have their own historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter.” This Exhibition is a visual statement of the presence and legacy of the Ancient African Civilizations; The Black Pharaohs from Egypt & Nubia and the Great Olmec Civilization in the Americas. Most history today was written by European historian, and is part of their story which glorifies them at the expense of the conquered leaving them as a “people without a past and without a culture,” people incapable of transforming their lives.
This exhibition will tell part of the African Diaspora’s story based on historical evidence, which has been conveniently left out for centuries and helped to create a condition amongst people of African descent that has harmed their sense of identity and self- esteem. This invisibility is a form of racism and discrimination, which has sought to portray Africa as a land of savages and barbarians and people of African descent taught to believe that they are a “people without a past and without a culture,” people incapable of transforming their lives. Knowing your history is important, because understanding the linkages between the past and the present is absolutely basic for a good understanding of the condition of being human.
The African Diaspora Museum sees its role and moral responsibility is to overcome the invisibility and to reclaim the legacy, the contributions and the impact of people of African Descent and to get their names restored to their rightful place in the events that have shaped the history of the world. On Oct 13, 2016, Afro-Latinos Historical Society launched the African Diaspora Museum of Chicago (ADMC), based on the principle that racism has had a negative impact on the self-concept of Black children. Since self-concept is related to achievement, it is important to help People of African Descent to develop positive attitudes about their racial heritage, because racism has influenced mainstream historians and have resulted in historical bias.
“The authors of The African World History Project have declared that “Africa was old before Europe was born.” This statement should be a normal assumption given that the world’s anthropological community have proven beyond a doubt that Africa was the cradle of civilization. However, when we look at modern “western” education it would appear that the reverse is true. The Europeans would like you to believe Civilization began with Greece and Rome. That Egypt is not part of Africa and its people were never Black. They have gone to a lot of trouble to separate Africa into two, North Africa and Sub Saharan Africa otherwise known as “Black Africa” in order to long-term reinforce the myth of Egyptians and North Africans being white. Since Egyptians are considered amongst the first people with a very advanced civilization, Europeans have carefully placed themselves in our history, rewrote it, whitened the pictures and have made it theirs. They have included in their attempts, efforts to wipe out the depictions of Blackness that would highlight the deception. In the words of Dr. John Henry Clarke, “We are here to discover the missing pages of World history, ” and an African Centered curriculum would do just that.”
Now is the time for the redefinition of education paradigms. Therefore, in order to redefine and build a brighter future for the next generation of African Diaspora children, we must promote educational and social inclusion as the role of education in empowering marginalized African descendant children, helping them to raise their self- and group esteem to productively interact with member of other races and cultures. It is widely known that learning of outstanding achievement of one’s racial group does enhance racial identity.

Museum Researcher and Founder, Dr. Ana Vicky Castillo is taking her opening exhibition to Senegal for a 10 day visit starting on November 17th to November 28, 2017 for the grand opening exhibition on November 24th, 2017 at the Grand Theatre National honoring the late Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop, and his research on the African Origin of Civilization.

THE EXHIBITION
The Exhibition is a visual statement of the presence and legacy of the Ancient African Civilizations to humanity. The exhibition is an undeniable evidence that for thousands of years, Egypt and Nubia as African countries were Africans Civilizations developed by Black people. The Exhibition will ratify this research of the Senegalese Physicist, Egyptologist, Mathematician, Historian and Philosopher, Dr. Cheikh Anta Diop.
The exhibition will feature original painting, artworks, and reproductions on canvas of the Ancient African Civilizations of the Black Pharaohs from Egypt & Nubia and the Great Olmecs Civilization in the Americas.
The authenticity and truthfulness of this research have been, also corroborated and validated by the researches of great scholars and thinkers as Dr. Theophile Obenga, Dr. Ivan Van Sertima, Dr. George G. M. James, Dr. Yosef Ben Jochannan, Dr. Chancellor Williams, Dr. John Henrik Clarke, and Dr. Jacob H. Carruthers among others.
