The Dream for East African Deaf Children

Hello everyone,
I would like to take this ocassion to thank everyone who have supported me in my life until today, without all and each of you, I wouldn't be the person I am today. It is because of your generosity and kindness that I have managed to start International Deaf Education, Advocacy and Leadership (IDEAL), Inc, and successfully hosted the first East Africa Deaf Youth Leadership Summit which brought together about 100 deaf youth and leaders in the East Africa Community. Together we gathered in Kampala Uganda in June 2013 and concluded the summit with a starting point of a long road ahead toward sustainable development. On this day that I celebrate the life that I have been blessed to have, I would like to reach out to you personally, share with you some great success and humbly ask you to support me as I continue to move forward with what I have started.
With this previous experience, and counting on my large network of supporters, I would like to dedicate 2014 to Deaf children in the East African Community. Last year we were able to reach out to deaf youth who were able to travel to Uganda, next year I would like to organize a team that will be able to reach those who are not able to leave their school or their homes. We have successfully inspired and empowered 100 deaf youth, this time I would like to multiply this number by five in each of the 5 countries of the East African Community: Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya and Uganda.
In all these countries as well as everywhere in the world, there are many children, deaf and hearing alike, who are born with various abilities and talents to succeed but who need a little kindle and inspiration to make them believe that they too can reach their dreams and goals.
With your support, we will assist the EAC Deaf community in reducing communication barriers faced by deaf people by supporting them with sign language development; provide scholarships to deserving youth to gain secondary education where it is accessible; and last but not least, inspire young children and their family through IDEAL camps, Youth Leadership Summits, and facilitating access to resources available through other organizations.
For example, $500.00 USD will support one deaf youth from Burundi to get secondary education in Uganda, $5000,00 would create 10 scholarships and assist 10 youth, this would give us opportunity to sponsor 2 youths from each of the five countries of the EAC. Through IDEAL, we do believe that sustainable development for the Deaf community will not be achieved without competent and well educated deaf leaders who are ready to advocate for the needs of their communities and bridge resource with the hearing world.
