Stem Cells for John G. Wurm

We are raising money for John to be treated with his own stem cells.  This treatment is not covered by insurance.  We have found a doctor willing to start the treatment locally but we need help raising funds.  Like most people, we never thought something this devastating could happen to us.  It did, and we are doing our best to cope.  John always enjoyed spending lots of time with our children and this has been the hardest adjustment for them.  They mostly miss how he always took the time to play with them, take them to work with him, and fish with them.  We all miss those times. Remember to make each moment count!

The money collected will go towards Adult Stem Cells for John.  Any additional funds raised will help pay for John\'s physical therapy. We know his recovery will still involve extensive therapy.  Thank you so much for taking the time to help!

What happened to John?

On March 1, 2007, John experienced a hemorrhagic stroke (brain bleed). Very few people survive this type of insult to the brain. We were told that John would not survive. He did. We were told that he would never wake up from a coma. He did. The doctors also told us that he would never move again.
John has regained use of the right side of his body and is stronger than most people I know. The left side, though still very weak, is slowly waking up and getting stronger. These doctors never had the priviledge of knowing John before this happened. If they had, they would know they weren\'t dealing with an average guy. His strong will and courage have gotten him this far and apparently he is not finished. He\'s fighting every day and showing no signs of giving up. That\'s just not something he does.
