Adopt a 7th Grade Classroom!

Donation protected

Hello Friends!

This September I will start as a 7th grade teacher and athletics coach in the inner-Chicago community of Englewood. The school at which I will teach, Amandla, is home to phenomenal students with incredible stories, who, despite countless challenges and disadvantages, continue to vigorously pursue their education with unbridled hope. Unfortunately, the quality and quantity of school supplies available to these students is lacking. With few books in the library and a complete absence of grade-level textbooks for Social Studies and Science, a competitve education is difficult to provide.

I am teaching here because I believe that all children deserve the opportunity to realize their vast potential-- but I know the fruition of this belief is not something any person or group can achieve alone. Ending education inequality will require dedicated efforts from teachers, administrators, families, community members, and, most importantly, overwhelming public support from people like you, who believe that the right to an outstanding and empowering education ought be one endowed to all children.

100% of any donation will go to procuring this right for Amandla students through the purchase of the following classroom materials: whiteboards and dry-erase markers, grade-level textbooks and workbooks, copies of "To Kill a Mockingbird" and "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" for all 7th graders, materials for hands-on science experiments and a year-end science fair, and more resources to supplement the curriculum. With your help we will also hope to find ways to fund educational fieldtrips and new extra-curricular activities, such as a Community Service Club and a Leadership Conference.

To show our sincere appreciation for the critical role our donors play in these students' educations, "adopting" our classroom with a single donation of any size will entitle you to various opportunities to follow and interact with the class. You will receive monthly photos and updates on topics our 7th graders are studying, an in-depth report on the projects they are undertaking (made possible by your generosity), the chance to visit and speak in our classrooms in a mentorship role, and automatic priority invites and "Valued Adopter" status at Amadla fundraisers held throughout the city. On behalf of all of Amandla, thank you for your support in our endeavor to end education inequality and to give these students the greatest chance at the bright future all children deserve.

With much gratitutde,
The Amandla 7th Grade Team
