Adjusting to life in a wheelchair

Donation protected
My brother Bill had a fall on July 17, 2020, which left him in excruciating back pain.  He went to the U of A and received pain medication with next to no investigation of his injury.  A few days later he was still in excruciating pain and went to the Royal Alexandra Hospital via ambulance.  Ambulance personnel could not maneuver the stretcher in and out of the house, so Bill walked out of the house and onto the stretcher.  On July 30th, Bill discovered that he had no feeling in his toes. Doctors investigated further and found that his back was broken and ended up doing emergency surgery that day.
Where all of this leaves him today, is paralyzed from the waist down with no hope of recovery.  He is being discharged on November 4 to go home as they have determined that there is nothing more that they can do for him. Before he can go home, he  will need major renovations to accommodate a wheelchair at the very least.
Bill will not be able to support his wife and family while he recovers from surgery and goes through rehabilitation to adapt to life in a wheelchair. It is not expected that Bill will be able to return to work.  Susan is also off work to support Bill through this long process.
Any financial support for Bill and Sue to help with the many additional living expenses, and modifications to their home will be greatly appreciated.
