Darby Strong - Adam Griffiths Fight

Donation protected
I am starting this go fund me for a dear friend of mine, who recently has came into the toughtest battle of his life.  Adam Griffiths to anyone that knows him, knows he is the kindest, most big hearted man you could have the pleasure of knowing. They may also know him as an absolute stud on the football field and wrestling mat. While wrestling at Darby, he was 1st team all OCC his Junior and Senior year and with that went on to wrestle on scholarship at The Ohio State University.

While the athletic achievements were well earned and took an extreme amount of hard work and perserverance, none of it could prepare him for the match he is in now.

In July 2016, Adam went to the ER with severe abdominal pain where a CT scan revealed a softball sized tumor in his colon.  Following a colonoscopy and biopsy, it was confirmed as stage 3B Colon Cancer.  3 days later, doctors performed a colectomy to remove the tumor where half of the colon was removed.  Complications from the surgery created an abscess on his abdomin that left Adam in the hosipital for 28 days.  During that stay, he had a port installed on the left side of his chest for administering chemo, drawing blood, and other medical needs.  He was refered to the Zangmeister Center to begin 6 months, 12 sessions of Chemo.
On November 26th, 2016 while still going through Chemo, Adam was gifted a blessing by welcoming his first son into the world:  Abel Adam Griffiths.  Adam continued Chemo treatments for the first few months of Abels life and in March 2017, he completed his treatments and was able to return to work for the first time in over 8 months.
On July 21st, 2017 exactly one year after first trip to ER and diagnosis, Adam was back in the ER again with severe abdominal pain where doctors now discovered a tumor the size of a baseball in his abdominal lining.  Also several smaller tumors in surrounding area were found.  This time he was referred to the James and doctor Jeffery VanDeueusen informed him that the cancer had progressed to its final stage, stage 4 Colon Cancer.  Due to the size, location, proxmity to his other organs, and the ineffectivness of his first Chemo treatments, made this a very scary diagnosis with extermely limited and very difficult treatment options.
The next battle in Adams fight is to begin Chemo again with more aggressive drugs and the hope being that these drugs will have a better effect and shrink the existing tumors.  If they do, there will be a very difficult surgey scheduled, where they will cut his abdomen open and attemp to remove all tumors.  While he is open, they will actually adminster drugs directly into abdominal cavity.  It is a very rare surgery, only discussed with young otherwise healthy patients that have the physical ability to recover.  The Jame is 1 of 11 hositals to perform this surgery.  The surgery is known as "Hot Chemo Bath".
With all of the medical issues Adam has went through in the last 14-16 months he has not been able to work to provide for his family, including his 9 month old son Abel. As if the physical pain and burden has not been enough, the financial burden and stress can be just as overwhelming.  Now looking at most likely the hardest and longest battle of this war, Adam needs to be able to focus 100% on fighting this dreaded disease. Im hoping and praying to be able to, with your guys help to fight this part of the battle for him. Any donations that are given will go directly to Adam to assist with the many things that unfortunatley dont stop while he goes on fighting. The less worry he has about anything not 100% related to his fight with cancer, will dramatically increase the chances that WE ALL will get to spend many, many, many more years with my dear friend.

Thank you so much for your time and consideration to helping out anyway possible. Even all the thoughts and prayers mean more than you could ever know. Thank you, and I love you all.
