Hello!
We are the Domes Family! Ethan (13 years old), Liesl (11 years old), Micah (9 years old), Aiden (5 years old), & Michael and Naomi! We are a local Qualicum Beach family and we are looking to make a difference in the lives of children and seniors in our community!
We know the importance of being and staying active through all ages and stages of life. We know how fortunate we are to be able to go outside and run, play soccer, hike, kayak and bike whenever we choose. Not everyone has the same independent ability or opportunity!
We have a challenge ahead of us in the spring of 2017! We will be cycling Eurovelo 15, a fully dedicated track that follow’s the Rhine River for 1233km’s, from its outflow in the North Sea, Netherlands to its source in Switzerland! The longest section is in Germany and runs over 900 kilometres from Lake Constance to Emmerich am Rhein. We have named our ride Activer - Zyklos (A-Z), German for “Active Cycle.” This holds several meaning s for us. Literally, we will be embarking upon an ‘active cycle’ adventure as a family! We also mean to highlight the benefits of physical activity from ages ‘A through Z!’
By navigating through 6 different countries along the Rhein River, we hope to bring attention to limited active living opportunities for vulnerable groups in Oceanside! Our HOPE is to raise $16,449.00 to help purchase 2 specialised bicycles that can be used with geriatrics and pediatrics of various physical abilities.
These will be offered for use in our Oceanside community, and will assist families in being active for the health of it, while also linking groups from different ages and stages!
We are asking you to be a part of our 1233km project – and help assist children and seniors in our community have more opportunities to be able to get moving in the outdoors! This MOVEment calls us all together to acknowledge that we can help one another be well physically, psychologically, socially and spiritually, holistically, from A-Z!
