Help Aoife Overcome Cancer

My name is Ronan Kelly and this Go Fund Me has been set up on behalf of my wife Aoife Kelly (Lynch
Daly). We met when we were fifteen years old and have been together ever since. We had our lives
all planned out and were very much looking forward to the many adventures ahead.

Unfortunately, our world was turned upside down in the summer of 2016 when Aoife was diagnosed
with advanced low grade serous ovarian carcinoma, at the young age of 26. A rare slow growing
cancer that is difficult to treat. Due to the slow growing nature of the disease, it is relatively resistant
to chemotherapy as chemotherapy targets rapidly dividing cells.

The diagnosis took a long time to digest but Aoife did what she does best, look for positives and a
path forward. Aoife has always believed that she would need a whole-body approach to tackle this
disease - a strong mind and a strong immune system. Aoife took on both an alternative and
conventional approach. Some alternative treatments included infra-red sauna therapy, Hyperbaric
oxygen therapy, Intra Venous Vitamin C treatments, Countless supplements, Mistletoe Therapy,
Healthy diet choices and Meditation. We strongly believe that using an integrative approach has
kept Aoife alive.

In November 2016 Aoife underwent extensive surgery which was successful in removing all the
disease. Unfortunately, she had a recurrence in June 2018. Since then, she has had two separate
treatments with chemotherapy the first in October 2018 which gave a partial response and the latest
in October 2020 which she was unable to fully complete due to side effects but yielded a partial
response from the treatment.

Aoife is a kind, gentle person who always has a sense of calm around her. She would do anything to
help someone and is always offering a helping hand to anyone that needs it even when sick. Aoife
always puts on a brave face despite the many challenges she faces. However, the last couple of years
have been extremely difficult for her. Constantly dealing with health issues be it recurrent infections,
procedure after procedure, numerous stints in hospital and countless sleepless nights due to
crippling pain. Her quality of life has been severely diminished due to this disease. Something no
one deserves.

The latest scan report has shown disease progression that requires immediate intervention. Her
oncology team have suggested a new regime of chemotherapy which she has just started. The hope
would be that this shrinks the troublesome tumours. With the money raised from this Go Fund Me
Aoife plans to travel to a clinic in Germany to undergo further chemotherapy alongside other
treatments that are not available to her in Ireland. The medical team in Germany are hopeful that
the treatments they offer will further help reduce this tumour burden, strengthen her immune
system after the effects of chemotherapy, and provide protocols she can follow when she returns
home.

Over the past five and a half years with the support of our families and by using up all our own
finances we have spent tens of thousands on various treatments and hospital care. Unfortunately,
this treatment in Germany comes at an immense cost, far beyond our means.
