Help Abuelita Retire

Community and Friends, 

First and foremost I would like to express my gratitude for the amount of love and support received since my Abuelito's passing. 

I am writing to you because as you know my Abuelitos are my life. Being undocumented in this country has not been easy and yet despite all these limitations my Abuelitos managed to raise me into the man I am today. 

Abuelito is no longer with us. All I have left is my old lady and since graduating college I have been working tirelessly to help support my family. For those of you that know my Abuelita, you also know that she is none stop. She can sell you anything from a perfume to some tamales. This lady is hardworking so even when I tell her to take a break she doesn't know how to.

I am creating this fundraising effort because since my Abuelito's passing  I want to ensure that she lives her best undocu-life. 

I have been saving some money with my ultimate goal being to get my Abuelita out the hood. We arrived here in 1991 and in her time in the United States my Abuelita is proud that she saved $10,000 for when she is no longer able to work. That might not sound like a lot but when I tell you that I was raised in extreme poverty, this is a huge accomplishment. 

This fundraiser is a long time coming and I want to see if I can double that amount. Thank you to all the people that encouraged me to set up this fundraiser. I want her to feel at ease knowing  there are people in this world that care and love her. If you find it with in your means please consider making a contribution or sharing her story with your networks. 

I will be working on my end to ensure that this old lady smiles more, despite all xenophobia in this country. Undocumented elders deserve to live in ease. 

De todo corazón thank you for supporting me and loving my little immigrant family. My Abulitos like so many of our undocumented elders are the definition of innovation. They took the trash this country gave them and recycled it to build a life.

En primer lugar, me gustaría expresar mi gratitud por la cantidad de amor y apoyo recibido desde la muerte de mi abuelito.

Les escribo porque, como sabran, mis abuelitos son mi vida. Ser indocumentado en este país no ha sido fácil y, a pesar de todas estas limitaciones, mis Abuelitos lograron elevarme al hombre que soy hoy.

Abuelito ya no está con nosotros. Todo lo que me queda es mi viejita y desde que me gradué de la universidad he estado trabajando incansablemente para ayudar a mantener a mi familia. Para aquellos de ustedes que conocen a mi Abuelita, también saben que ella no se detiene. Ella puede venderte cualquier cosa, desde un perfume hasta algunos tamales. Esta señora es muy trabajadora, así que incluso cuando le digo que tome un descanso, no sabe cómo hacerlo.

Estoy creando este esfuerzo de recaudación de fondos porque desde el fallecimiento de mi Abuelito quiero asegurarme de que viva su mejor vida.

He estado ahorrando algo de dinero con mi objetivo final de sacar a mi Abuelita adelante. Llegamos aquí en 1991 y en su tiempo en los Estados Unidos mi Abuelita está orgullosa de haber ahorrado $ 10,000 para cuando ya no puede trabajar. Puede que no parezca mucho, pero cuando te digo que fui criado en la pobreza extrema, este es un gran logro.

Con esta recaudación de fondos mi meta es si puedo duplicar esa cantidad. Gracias a todas las personas que me animaron a organizar esta recaudación de fondos. Quiero que mi Abuela sienta a gusto sabiendo que hay personas en este mundo que la quieren y la aman. Si lo encuentra dentro de sus posibilidades, consideren hacer una contribución o compartir su historia con sus redes.

Trabajaré en mi parte para asegurarme de que esta viejita sonría más, a pesar de toda la xenofobia en este país. Los viejitos indocumentados merecen vivir con tranquilidad.

De todo corazón gracias por apoyarme y amar a mi pequeña familia de inmigrantes. Mis abulitos como tantos de nuestros mayores indocumentados son la definición de innovación. Tomaron la basura que este país les dio y la reciclaron para construir una vida.
