Mission Trip to Abidjan, Ivory Coast

My Friends and Family,

I write this hoping you all are doing well and enjoying life!

As some of you know, the past year and a half I have invested a large portion of my time serving God and his people. Last summer and throughout this school year, I have received Biblical training from ministers and evangelists as I help to seek and save the lost, and serve God's people (Matthew 28:19-20). I have used this training on campuses in Lexington, Columbus and Cincinnati as I share my faith, and invite other young men to study the Bible. God has truly blessed me with some amazing training to help people deepen and/or gain a relationship with God.

With that said, I'd like to share with you an opportunity I have that will hopefully be life changing for myself and those I come to meet. This summer, I have been invited to serve a church in the city of Abidjan in the Ivory Coast of Africa for approximately 7 weeks following my graduation. During this time, I will be evangelizing and studying the Bible with young men in Abidjan seeking to have a relationship with God. I will have opportunities to encourage the Abidjan Church and share with them the training I have recently received, as well as participate in worship services and find ways to meet their needs on a daily basis. The reason for my excitement and eagerness to travel and serve in Abidjan is due to the low Christian population. With only one third of the Ivory Coast having a Christian background, which is well below the estimation of 78% in the United States, the opportunity to share and spread the gospel is tremendous. God promises us that the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few (Matthew 9:37), and this is ever so true in the Ivory Coast, which has a population of over 20 million.

I write to you asking for both your prayers and financial support. I am due to graduate from the University of Kentucky with a mechanical engineering degree in May, and I will start my engineering career with Hitachi Automotive in Harrodsburg, KY following my return from the Ivory Coast. However, until then I remain a broke college student with dreams of changing and transforming lives!!

This opportunity is on a volunteer basis and will incur approximately $2,800. My housing will be covered by the Abidjan church, so the majority of your financial contribution will help with travel and other living expenses such as food.

Donations can be made through this website or postal services. If you would like to make a donation via mail please send them to the address below by May 10, 2014. However, I will continue to accept donations until the day I leave.

With your help, many lives will be changed! Your donation is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me at (440) [phone redacted].

Thank you for your kindness and compassion.

Sincerely and Gratefully,
Jimmy
