Abby Lipply Memorial Schlrshp - ACF

Donation protected

This Memorial Scholarship Fund of Akron Community Foundation was established in memory of our daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend Abigail Sue Lipply who left her mark on this world and left us much too young on October 9th, 2008 after suffering an Epileptic seizure. Abby was a free spirit who never allowed herself to be influenced by others and stood up for those who could not stand up for themselves. She believed strongly that everyone had a purpose and everyone deserved to be respected and loved and she lived that every day. Abby made it her daily mission to reach out to someone who she would see sitting alone or who looked sad or who was being teased or picked on by others. She never cared what others thought of her, she was compelled to make others feel better and to look at life differently no matter what it took. She took it upon herself to hug anyone who looked like they needed it whether they knew it or not. She reached out to those who needed a friend every day, to make sure they knew someone cared about them. She never cared about being popular or making people like her, she lived to make others happy and help them believe in themselves and realize they just need to look for the good in life. Abby would always write the phrase, \"Eventually I will die, so while I am alive don\'t judge me, because I live my  life to the fullest and me and my friends laugh the loudest.\" She believed this, she exemplified this and she lived it.

This scholarship is dedicated to those who live their lives to support others and make the world a better place. Each year up to two $1000 scholarships are given to Hudson High School seniors who support a cause personal/private or public with such passion that they do not consider the reward or risk to themselves. Their dedication and support to this cause or person(s) makes a difference and may not be popular or trendy, but they felt it was the right thing to do. This cannot be in support of a political cause or group and the recipient must have first-hand involvement in the support or changes being made.

This scholarship is awarded to students attending a college, military or technical trade school after high school and is to be used for that purpose.
