PEACE PARTNERS FOR PEACE

Donation protected

Greetings:

I am requesting your support, and I'm casting a very wide net that encompasses people from every aspect of my life. You may know me as Sister, Mama, Rev. Aziza, Carole, Little Reid, Sistah Sistah, Oumi, NO! The other Aziza the one who dances, or you know that sistah who wears the Gele's and does the sign language and dance. Hehehehehe…no worries. Yup! It's me.

Some may know me as a dancer, teacher, artistic director, arts presenter, some as a Foster mother (9 foster children Whew!) Some as a Reverend (I was ordained in 2003 just in case I have not seen you in a while) and some who know me as the caregiver for my precious mother for many years before her transition. But most of all I hope you all know me as a SEVITE (a volunteer whose selfless service is offered to God.) Which I know is my life’s purpose.

Many of you witnessed my first continuum of service when transitioning from the stage as a dancer to presenting other artists and creating Def Dance Jam Workshop a non-profit organization serving  "differently-able" performing artists. My next calling was becoming an ordained inter-faith minister and focusing on counseling people in diverse communities.

Def Dance Jam has been at the core of my service for more than two decades. And now, after 24 years as Founder/Artistic Director of Def Dance Jam, I am ending its day-to-day programming operations to devote myself to a different kind of service, however DDJW Inc. 501 (c) 3 will still exist for possible future projects. I am excited to share with you that I have been accepted as a volunteer for Peace where my tour of duty will be in MOLDOVA (I know no one knows where it is LOL!) It's a small country in Eastern Europe near the Ukraine and Romania. All of the preliminary pieces are in place for me to step into this new phase of service. I completed tons of paper work, participated in video conferences with people in my host country, completed online cultural courses, started learning Romanian and Russian, and I just received my medical clearance. It has been a long arduous process, but I am ecstatic that I will be departing NY for Moldova on May 29, 2016.

And that leads me to the over-arching purpose of my appeal. I would like you to become my "Peace Partner" by supporting the work that I'm doing on this journey as a PC Volunteer. First and foremost, I need your prayers for the work ahead... but a sistah also needs help! I also need monetary assistance. As you might imagine, there is a lot involved in winding things up in NY while preparing for life in Moldova for the next two to three years. There are expenses associated with moving out of my apartment, transportation, interim living accommodations, wrapping up the business and producing the last NY/DDJW performance season. And of course all of the items required for living in a place like Moldova. (If you have not googled Moldova yet ... Yes it's cold hence my Amazon wish list) LINK TO AZIZA'S AMAZON WISH LIST ON CAMPAIGN PAGE     If you are inclined to lend support in this manner.

If you can’t help at this time HUGS ALWAYS WORK! Please come find me ... I am having weekly paper shredding/ .99 sales/everything must go moving parties at my place. Or Come out and support the last season of Def Dance Jam Community on May 14, 2016, 3PM &, 7:30PM at the PONO learning Center in Harlem, 2002 5th Avenue-124th Street. It will be great to see you before I head to Moldova.

If you know me, you know how much this means to me, and how much I appreciate any gesture of support you can offer. This next Journey will allow "GOD to use all of me."

I love you ALL from the deepest space in my heart.

Peace, Love & Respect,
Aziza
