The Arizona Derby Dames (AZDD) have been one of the world's largest and fastest growing all-girl roller derby leagues for six full seasons, now closing out the seventh.The league's five teams and over 100 skaters compete on the only banked track in Arizona since season season four. AZDD was founded in 2005 as a flat track league and poured their own sweat and elbow grease into building the AZDD-owned track. The league first competed at Battle on the Bank II: Capital Punishment in Austin, TX in 2009 and took 5th place out of 8 teams, though some girls had never skated in a banked track game prior to the tournament. AZDD took 5th place again at Battle on the Bank III in San Diego, CA in 2010. In 2011, the league hosted Battle on the Bank IV and flourished in taking on the challenge of hosting their first national tournament. The new official travel team for AZDD, the Hot Shots, made up of top skaters from the regular-season five teams, were introduced that season. The Hot Shots fought their way up to fourth place last year and are psyched to return to BOTB in 2012!
