A Young Dressage Rider's Dream

Donation protected
My name is Mimi Hoffman. I live in Bloomington, Indiana, and I am 15 years old. I am a passionate dressage rider and I need your help to achieve my dream! I've always been the little girl obsessed with horses...but I never really grew out of that stage. There are few opportunities for dressage riders in Indiana. Being a rider in Bloomington is more difficult than being a basketball player in Bloomington where everything is all about basketball. Many weekends my family and I haul my horse in a trailer up to six hours for just two lessons. Being on my own, I have to have discipline and independence, especially at times where I am unable to get a lesson for another few weeks.

When I was 11, my parents signed me up for English riding lessons. I quickly fell in love with the sport and later received my first horse, BNF Provocative. Prov, as he is called around the barn, is a schoolmaster, which means he has mastered dressage at certain levels. He is truly the one who inspired my love for dressage.

I have been accepted into the 2018 Winter Intensive Training Program (WIT) . Only 13 other young riders, from all over the world, are accepted annually. WIT, as many of the young riders like to call it, is based in Wellington, Florida, for the "season" of January - March. To understand all WIT has to offer, you first must understand Wellington. Wellington is known as "The Winter Equestrian Capital of The World.” During the winter, thousands of equestrians from all over the world haul, commercially ship, or even fly their horses to Wellington to compete against the best of the best. During the program, I will receive lessons from two-time Olympian, and head of the program, Lendon Gray, 5 days a week. Additionally, we will listen to lectures from all different equine professionals, travel to neighboring training facilities, and attend clinics from other top riders.

Attending the Winter Intensive Training Program will be an amazing learning opportunity for me and my horse. I will be able to excel in all types of horsemanship, such as riding, horse care, and barn management. I cannot wait until January 3rd, when I will officially begin the program. Now, this is where you come in.  The cost of the program is $8,400.  I have been working in my grandmother's barn all summer and training a pony to raise the money but I still need your help.

I want to thank you, and show my gratitude, as you assist me towards my dream.
