Aubrey Fights for Time...Against Cancer

Mother of 4-month old and 4-year old daughters. Shopping. Christmas. Travel. Presents. Celebration. Winter. Persistent cough. Lingering fatigue. The definition of a mom during a busy holiday season.
Then May 21, 2014. Aubrey’s hopes and dreams must have ricochetted off the sharp edges of the words her oncologist spoke into the room: stage 4 lung cancer…both lungs…sac around your heart…liver…some of your bones…not in your brain, yet…months…if treatment goes well.
Everything changed in that moment. All of the long-term aspirations, yearnings, dreams and hopes shared with her husband for their two daughters turned with an immediacy to health insurance, life insurance, social security disability, living wills, power of attorney, remortgaging a home - the business of closing down a life.
Aubrey is hoping the medicine she is now taking causes a response in her cells that will give her just enough wiggle room to be accepted into an experimental clinical trial in the hopes of prolonging her life - more time with her family.
And yet, in all of this, Aubrey’s faith remains steadfast. Not a word or a whine or a poor me on Facebook. Not a whimper. Not a why me? Not a public tear - only the sweet, caring, wholesome, attentive person that so many have loved during her short 35 years.
Aubrey’s goals now are to spend time with her family and create meaningful memories together with her girls and husband, Trevor, while they still have time.
“There are so many dreams I have for my girls that I may not get to see or help them accomplish.”
Aubrey’s family is close and their hearts are breaking. They would never ask for anything for themselves. So, we are asking for them.
Cancer doesn’t come cheap. Doctors. Hospitals. Tests. Medicines. Oxygen. Lawyers. Travel. Caretakers. And their car was recently totaled by a careless driver. It’s raining on this family.
Foremost, we covet your prayers for Aubrey, but we also invite your dollars. Together, let's make a difference in the quality of life this young family has left together, and let us benefit the family when there is no more fight left.
