Finish the Emergency Care Shelter at ARRG

Tax deductible
Animal Rights and Rescue Group (ARRG) is a no-kill animals rescue centre based in the NSW Northern Rivers suburb of Lismore. 2020 sees ARRG celebrate their 25th year and to date they’ve found forever homes for over 30,000 animals.

ARRG is the first port of call for many residents and their animals in the region, with the closest RSPCA being over 3 hours away.

During the late 2019, early 2020 fires, and previously the 2017 Lismore floods, ARRG was unable to provide as much assistance as they wanted to fire and flood victims who had nowhere to house their pets.

ARRG has been really busy over the last few years establishing their centre and working hard to provide accommodation for pets in desperate situations. Increasingly, in fact almost weekly, ARRG is called upon by welfare agencies to provide, or find, temporary accommodation for pets whose owners are in desperate situations. Individuals who find themselves in crisis situations are generally unable to pay for their animals to go to even the least expensive boarding kennels.

ARRG would like to build Emergency Care Pens at their centre, to allow pet owners to take the next step to alleviate their current difficult circumstances without the constant worry about the fate of their pets. The Emergency Care Shelter will be important in the growing number of animals that find themselves homeless with their owners, are victim of domestic violence or those needing care for an animal due to emergency health problems of their owners.

ARRG has council approved plans for a kennel facility housing 10 dogs in separate runs and at this point there is a large cement slab on the ground, but not enough funds to complete the kennel building.

They desperately require donations to finish the kennel project and provide temporary boarding facilities for animals in times of extreme hardship.

As a thank you to everyone who donates, you will receive an email with an album of photos I took of the cats and dogs while visiting ARRG with The Living Room.
