Go Blue for Juvenile Arthritis

Donation protected
Juvenile Arthritis affects 300,000 children in the United States. Juvenile Arthritis effects the joints in the body making it very difficult to do daily activities that many of us take advantage of such as writing, walking, and standing. It is a disease that is completely life-changing after its diagnosis. Besides the excruciating levels of pain children with arthritis suffer from, they also endure numerous visits to a wide variety of doctors such as rhuematologists, physical therapists, and even psychologists. These children are required to take large doses of medication daily varying from pills to injections, but the most heartbreaking truth for children diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis is that their life will never be the same as "normal kids".

The sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi at the University of Arkansas work everyday to raise not only money, but also awareness for Juvenile Arthritis. We put on many fundraising events throughout the year so that we can donate money to such an amazing cause. Our main philanthropy event we hold is AOII Goes Blue week honoring the blue ribbon for the Arthritis Foundation. During this week Alpha Omicron Pi raises money for the Arthritis Foundation through our annual philanthropy events such as the Strike Out Arthritis Softball Tournament and the Strike a Pose Fashion Show. AOII Goes Blue Week has been a huge success in years past and all money raised has been donated directly to the Arthritis Foundation. This year however, the Xi Omicron chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi is working very hard to raise more money for the Arthritis Foundation than we ever have before.

The Greek life at the University of Arkansas has many traditions that Alpha Omicron Pi participates in every year. Our largest and absolute favorite is Homecoming. This event is the highlight of the fall semester for the Fayetteville community, the university, and the sisters of Alpha Omicron Pi. It is a week long event that consists of many competitions between Greek Life Organizations and it ends with a parade and pep rally for the upcoming home football game. Between creating the decorations for our lawn, assembling and creating the float, and participating in the other events throughout the week the members of Alpha Omicron Pi spend countless hours preparing for homecoming each year. This year we would like to not only dedicate our time to Homecoming, but to our philanthropy as well.

However, we can't do this without the support and generous donations from our friends and family. We really appreciate your donations as each of them, small or large, make a lasting impact on the lives of children and families affected by Juvenile Arthritis. Help Alpha Omicron Pi Make a Difference and Go Blue for Juvenile Arthritis.
