Dear Friends,
I cannot possibly begin to describe how grateful I am for your generosity, during what has been an incredibly difficult time of my life (this may be the understatement of the decade!).
Thanks to your support, I was able to undergo treatment in the US. Specialist EDS surgery remains out of my grasp financially, but I have been able to undergo a series of infusions and treatments that have changed my life beyond recognition.
Although most of my twenties were lost to the consequences of my rare combinations of Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and related conditions, my treatment has meant that I am able to now live a far more normal life. While I will always suffer chronic pain and dysfunction related to EDS, I am delighted that many aspects of my life have improved drastically - from my pain levels, to mobility, to my ability to function at a more normal level and have joyful, normal experiences once again. My wellbeing has improved exponentially.
Since I began my treatments, I have been able to re-train part time as a therapist, and hope to eventually specialise in chronic illness and disability. I am finally able to feel excited about what the future holds for me.
