ALS Céilí in Your Kitchen Go-Fund-Me Campaign for Donna Sheehan
One of dear friends and fellow set dancer, Donna Sheehan, has been diagnosed with ALS. One of Donna’s most favorite things on earth is set dancing. She loves the music, the dancing, and most of all the amazing friends that have come into her life through her set dancing experience. Please enjoy the accompanying video to see Donna “housing around” at a local ceili.
We, her set dancing friends, had hoped to have a benefit Céilí Mór to raise funds to help her purchase the equipment needed to make her life with ALS as comfortable as possible. However, Covid-19 spoiled our plans. Instead, we invite you to have a little private “Céilí in Your Kitchen”; maybe play a little tune, dance a few reels and enjoy a bit of a hornpipe, “round the house and mind the dresser”! And when you’re done, please consider a donation to our “ALS Céilí in Your Kitchen Go-Fund-Me Campaign” for Donna’s medical equipment needs.
Our goal is to fund part of the family’s cost* for a special wheelchair for ALS patients. This specialized wheelchair will provide Donna with increased mobility and comfort, and make living with ALS easier. Donna has brought so much joy to all our lives with her friendship, her vivacious personality, her generosity, her kindness, her sense of humor and her ability to tell a great story, to name but a few gifts. We’d love to be able to give Donna the gift of mobility with this special wheelchair, as well as boost her spirit with the gift of our friendship. Perhaps with this chair she’ll be able to negotiate a “house around” her own kitchen! And hopefully, when we’ve finally driven Covid-19 from our lives, we’ll be able to enjoy each other’s company at a Céilí Mór.
We send our heartfelt and sincere thanks for your friendship and your generosity. Any amount you’re able to contribute is welcome and greatly appreciated. We recognize these are trying times and you may be unable to financially contribute; please keep Donna in your prayers and we will be forever thankful.
Go raibh maith agaibh ár chairde ~
*While insurance and Medicare cover a portion of the cost of a wheelchair, neither will cover the full cost of the type needed, which can run upwards of $20,000…and this is but one piece of equipment that she will need to continue to enjoy her life while living with ALS.
