AJP WA Senate Re-election Fund

Dear friends and supporters

Last year the Animal Justice Party paid $28,000 in federal election candidate nomination fees ($2,000 per candidate, up from $1000 the previous election) to run 12 Senate candidates in QLD, NSW, ACT, VIC, SA & WA and two candidates for the Lower House seats in two Victorian electorates.

On top of this, we had costs for printing How To Vote cards, flyers, banners, coreflute signs for polling places, stickers and merchandise - many, if not all candidates and committee members contributed their own money towards all these costs, as did many committed members, on top of their time and energy.

In Western Australia, we had a great result for our very first election - despite not gaining a seat, we received more primary votes than 15 of the 0ther 26 parties that ran, and three times the number of primary votes of the Sports Party candidate who gained a seat on preferences.

We didn't think we would have to come up with those kind of funds in WA again for over three years, but here we are; despite the fact that we paid our candidate nomination fees in good faith, to run at the last election and spent all the money we had on polling place placards and flyers for letterbox drops; despite tha fact that the AEC is responsible for the errors that saw that Senate election voided due to the loss of 1370 votes, we are told that to run again, we need to pay the nomination fees again.

So we are asking for your help to give us a second chance to be a voice for animals in the Parliamentary system.

We have 1,184 likers on facebook, and if each and every one of those likers donated just $5, that would raise $5920, which would cover not only our nomination fees, but other advertising material and campaign costs as well.

Whether we raise it or not, we will run - our lead candidate, Katrina Love will put up the money out of her own pocket, because that's how much she believes in the goals and visions of this party and what it aims to achieve for those who have no political representation, and her and co-candidate, Alicia Sutton's ability and passion to see those goals and visions come to fruition... this GoFundMe campaign will just decide how much she is out of pocket.

We will be running other fund-raising intiatives as well, and any money left over at the end of this imminent half Senate re-election will go towards our ongoing campaigns for state and federal elections in 2017 and advertising and promotion leading up to those elections (we estimate a minimum of $8000 in candidate nomination fees alone).
