We are asking for prayers & donations!
We (Christina and I) were faced with an emergency... December 2013 that we were unclear about the battle we would face to accomplish the mission of "SAVING MARIAH".
My name is Charlie and I come from a disconnected family. I grew up my entire life yearning for a relationship with my biological sister on my Fathers side. That yearn turned into pain. After a while I simply learned how to deal with the yearn and go on with my life. During this time I gave birth to my very own baby girl Shaniya. (whom is now 9 years old) I have become engaged and found the Love of my life Christina. After expressing my trials and pains of life to Christina she made it her duty to SEARCH for my long lost sister. Whom I searched for- for14 years, Christina found in THREE HOURS.
The moment Christina turned her laptop around and asked "is this her?" I nearly passed out and broke into tears and screamed "YES YES YES THAT IS MY SISTER!!!" That search was right here on FACEBOOK! I sent my sister a message and about 30 minutes later she was calling my phone!!! I cried and cried as the phone rang..in fear...fear that I have found her and that I had so much to tell her.
Just as I thought I was going to say "Sis we need to see each other NOW!" She expressed her life was a little different than mine. She was faced with many trials that put her in the circumstance she was in. She traveled from Las,Vegas NV to TN then HERE MD...searching and yearning the same thing as me...However with a different request. The request was to get MARIAH! After not having a consistent relationship, contact, or understanding... As a woman, mother and Sister I JUMPED immediately to do just that.
I explained to Christina that I needed to get my niece from Foster Care, whom was right here in Maryland while my sister was back in Vegas...and encouraged that with or without her support I would do it!
Christina made it very CLEAR.. that SHE SUPPORTED ME, MARIAH, SHANIYA AND MY SISTER and that we would get Mariah PERIOD.
Our lives changed dramatically! Within a months time after dealing with Foster Care Mariah was in our home... we decorated her new room, bought a crib, clothes toys and even threw her a "WELCOME HOME" party. With NO financial help from anywhere we have continued to support Mariah for 10 months! NO FOSTER CARE/STATE OF MARYLAND has not provided any FINANCIAL SUPPORT.
Honestly, that is perfectly ok. We manage. Mariah is extremely happy, Shaniya is extremely happy and life is well. However, parental rights for Mariah have been signed over to the state by her biological parents- and WE REFUSE for her to be adopted by anyone other than family! We have trained to be foster parents, had our home inspected, finger prints , background and LIVES ENVADED by state of Maryland to do as an aunt would do....TAKE CARE OF FAMILY.
Now we need a Lawyer to file petition of adoption to keep Mariah. Every lawyer we have talked to wants $2000 retainer PERIOD for the entire adoption.
We need assistance reaching the $2000..... We understand it is Holiday season..it things are tight (i.e. why we are reaching out to the world for help) but anything will help.
