CHECK OUT THE FIRST TEASER TRAILER ABOVE!!!

The post-production team of A Blood Throne would first and foremost like to formally thank every person who has supported this production thus far. It is because of you - your kindness, generosity, and prayers - that we have successfully made it to the film’s post-production stage. As we enter this final leg of our filmmaking journey, we as a post-production team have decided to create this page in order to give a bit of insight into the time, dedication, and talent that has already been poured into this project.

As we enter this final leg of our filmmaking journey, our team has been busy:

• Editing the shots from principal photography (filming)
• Creating the 2D and 3D Visual Effects (VFX)
• Color correcting & grading each shot to match the director’s intended mood
• Automated Dialogue Replacement (ADR) of actors for enhanced voice sound
• Creating original music (Film Score)
• Mixing sound levels for actors, background sound and music
• Adding title sequences and transitions
• And much more in order to make A Blood Throne an excellent film!

In order to complete this stage of the process, we need your help.

Message from the Producers

An indy short film set in the arid mountainous terrains of ancient Israel and the brutally harsh landscapes of the Negev desert is essentially impossible to do here in Boston, Massachusetts; however, the Garcia brothers took on the artistic challenge.\

Products of Stoneham Massachusetts, just 10 minutes north of Boston, Xavier and Jonathan Garcia have been dedicated to sharing their love for cinematic storytelling with the New England film community for over 6 years. They have found extremely unique ways to be successful in this endeavor so far, despite the challenges that some of their vastly complex historical productions may bring by filming in this geographical region. Therefore, when the brothers set off to producing a film in Boston about the controversial Herod the Great’s final years as the maniacal king of Israel, few were surprised, many were anticipative.

A Blood Throne is a 40 min short film that focuses on the dysfunctional relationship between father and son (Herod the Great and Antipas) at the height of Herod’s delusion: the massacre of the innocents and the murder of his two eldest sons. Ironically, the film found some of its exotic locations in places like Lancaster, Massachusetts; Newburyport, Massachusetts; Waterboro, Maine; and at the Events United Production Studios in Derry, New Hampshire. It was at Events United Studios where the crew for A Blood Throne built a scaled replica of Herod’s Roman-inspired Masada Palace throne room, a Roman bath, a peristyle cloister, and a balcony that overlooks the Israeli wilderness, along with the palace’s accouterments.

In regards to the set building process, Xavier Garcia agreed that “the project was a big leap from our last film Crossroad.  We went from building a small, ancient Hebrew home interior in a field-stone basement out in Woburn, MA to recreating the Masada Palace at a soundstage in Derry, NH.” The brothers find great pleasure in their meticulous and complex creative process that takes them through countless hours of extensive research, study, planning, and executing. As their thorough development process unfolds, they collaborate intimately with local businesses, churches, and ministries in order to make such ambitious pursuits possible. Xavier explains the importance of collaborating with the community: “Without the help or support of friends, family, and the local communities, these passion projects wouldn’t be possible. For us, it’s exciting to share in the joy of these creative journeys and build little families along the way. The whole thing begins with a vision on paper and ends with the forming of eternal relationships that bless the Lord.”

For the Garcia brothers, it’s their faith that fuels their fire. Encouraged by the pursuit to inspire, encourage, and love on their neighbors through the arts, they often turn to the parables spoken by Jesus in the Bible as their road-map to creating an environment where personal growth, artistic fulfillment, and life inspiration is possible. “For us, it’s not just about the end product. It’s about the spiritual process that leads to an excellent film,” states Jonathan Garcia. “Without an empowering and righteous journey, is the end result ever worth it? These projects are more about individual’s lives than the financial bottom line. If we can impact our little film-family to become an enriched version of their current self, filled with hope and encouraged through the word of God to live excellently, then the end-product will be excellent, and the numbers will handle themselves.”

In the end, the Garcia brothers confer that the entire process of film-making is about creating powerful art that inspires, transforms, enriches and encourages hope. “Sometimes it takes seeing the murderous and envious outbursts of a delusional king at his deathbed for us to awaken and take heed of our own cultural state,” declares Xavier.  This is precisely what the brothers are hoping A Blood Throne will do. As their website www.ABloodThrone.com advertises, they are believing that, “By exposing the corruption that comes with the unyielding pursuit for control, fame, and power, A Blood Throne will illustrate the mental, physical, and spiritual deterioration of Herod as a husband, father, and king.” An ancient 1st century reality all too close to home.
