The “Kim Sutter Memorial Go Fund Me Page” is being reopened to raise funds for a much-needed project: the renovation of the batting cages at Barcroft Park. All donations made through this site will be applied towards the project’s cost. The Arlington Babe Ruth Kim Sutter Memorial Fund is established in the memory of Kim Sutter, an ABR mom who left us too soon. Per the family’s wishes, donations to the Kim Sutter Memorial Fund will be used to improve and maintain diamond fields used for youth sports in Arlington County.

Over the past five years, I have had the privilege of getting to know the Sutter family. As kids often bring families together, my son Jacob attended Tuckahoe Elementary with Cole Sutter. It is through their friendship that I met Kim and her husband Mick.
Our families would meet up at the bus stop and often, the waiting parents would strike up conversations about many topics: kids, school, life and baseball. Kim Sutter was a wonderful woman—an engaging conversationalist, soft spoken, gentle in her demeanor and one of the nicest, most genuine people I have ever met.
Our neighborhood baseball team (the RedSox) started with t-ball and the kids continued playing together through 5th grade. Cole was our catcher, pitcher and first baseman. Kim and Mick were actively involved parents, cheering on their son and enjoying every moment of baseball.
The Sutters were supportive of our team and actively volunteered to help get ballfields ready for play. Kim and Mick were always the first to volunteer by grabbing a rake to get the field ready for the kids to play their game. This was often no easy task. Countless times after spring rains, Kim would show up early in jeans and work boots, asking “What can I do to help?” I would hand her a bucket and a rake, give her a brief tutorial….and away she would go. In July of this year, Kim was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She fought bravely and with grace, passing on September 23rd. Her countless volunteer hours and her selfless spirit will be missed incredibly but NEVER FORGOTTEN.
The Sutter family requests that donations be used by Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball to improve diamond fields by purchasing new pitching machines, portable pitching mounds, or improving batting cages, as needed. The beneficiary of this campaign is Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball. The funds will be withdrawn in the name of Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball and will be transferred to an account in the name of Arlington Cal Ripken Babe Ruth. Beth Jones is the executive director of ABR and will be monitoring the process and reporting the successful transfer of funds to the Board of Directors of Arlington Babe Ruth Baseball and the Sutter family.
