Co-founders of THE ABLEITIES FOUNDATION INC, Cori and Liz became coworkers and quick friends in 2015. Cori, a Board Certified Behavior Analysist (BCBA) and Liz, a Speech-Language Pathologist bonded over their experiences working with students with varying diagnoses and special needs, as well as their desire to provide higher quality programs and services. After two years of planning and dreaming, THE ABLEITIES FOUNDATION INC was created.
The ABLEities Foundation was conceptualized by the belief that children with all ABLEities are capABLE and should have access to high quality instruction and services. The ABLEities Foundation aims to provide comprehensive and unique programs for all learners, through the (A)cquisition of (B)ehavior and (L)anguage in (E)ducation. We provide an accessABLE and enjoyABLE learning environment, based on evidenced-based and best practices in the fields of Applied Behavior Analysis and Education.
We will provide programs that fit the needs of learners of all ABLEities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing, Social Pragmatic Communication Disorder, ADHD, learners with behavioral and/or emotional needs, physical/motor needs and those who are medically fragile.
Phase 1 Campaign
Our current campaign is to raise money for "Phase 1" of our mission - to provide social and play groups that take place on the weekends. As professionals in the NYC area, it is well-known that there are a limited number of programs available that cater to a variety of ABLEities, especially those that take place on the weekend. When surveying parents of children with special needs, a desire that is most often expressed is the need for things to do on the weekends. THE ABLEITIES FOUNDATION INC aims to begin hosting weekend, theme-based social groups that will teach learners how to interact and socialize appropriately, through play-based activities. Our groups will follow different themes (ex. transportation and construction, music and movement), so that learners are grouped with peers that have similar interests to them, already giving group members a leg up in socialization, sharing a common bond!
Money raised from this campaign will allow us to secure a space to hold classes (including rent fees, licensing/permit fees) as well as purchase needed materials for our social sessions and cover startup fees.
THE ABLEITIES FOUNDATION INC's 501(c)(3) status as a Not-for-Profit Organization is currently pending, which means your contribution can be retroactively tax-deductible.
