A U.S. Marine's brother in need

Donation protected
My name is Chaz Velazquez a United States Marine stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, but this page is not about me. I am writing about my big brother Jack. Whether it was dealing with little things, or helping me deal with family issues, Jack was always there for me. Jack is not only a great big brother but also a very loving, and amazing human being.

In July of 2010 Jack underwent surgery to remove several brain tumors. The tumors were removed, but since, he has suffered from repeated seizures. Shortly after the surgery, Jack's employer deemed Jack unfit to work, and as a result, he was let go. As a crane operator in Indiana, Jack's income was healthy, and his lifestyle was of course, reflective of his family's hard work. Jack accepted the cards he was dealt, and sold almost everything he had worked so hard for. Thanks to our family and his wife's family, Jack was able to keep their home and maintain a roof for his wife Jessica, a case manager for the Hammond school system, and his 2 daughters Leah and Lily.

I wish I could say that this story gets better, but it actually gets worse. Last week my brother was in a severe automobile accident due to a negligent driver on his cell phone. The driver merged into Jack's lane resulting in a head on collision, with my niece Leah in the back seat. Jack's vehicle is now a total loss, but thankfully my niece only suffered minor cuts on her forehead. However, Jack suffered severe head trauma, a shattered hip bone, a fractured femur, and a fractured knee.

Jack doesn't know I have created this page, but I know that he is in a dire situation. His wife's income is not enough to support their family and they have exhausted every other family resource. Jack needs specialty care and rehab, but his wife is unable to care for him due to her work, which means that he has to stay in a nursing facility. The money I am asking for is to cover Jack's mortgage, utilities, gas, food and some of his medical bills.

As a Marine I have endured a great deal of challenges, but nothing prepares you to deal with something like this. Is this all a test? I don't know, but we remain faithful that this too shall pass.
