A Race For Gary - The Jones Family

UPDATE :

Hello all,

On the afternoon of October 2, 2012 my Father lost his courageous battle with Mesothelioma Cancer. My Father's strength and courage will forever serve as an inspiration to all his friends and family. We give glory to God for the many blessings ingrained during this difficult period in our lives, but none were  greater than the good Lord taking my Father  peacefully into his arms on the day of his passing. In terms of loved one's passing on, there could not have been a better environment.

My Father passed away at home surrounded by many  family members and friends, just as he wanted . It was a grand exit from his life here on earth to his life of eternity with his Lord and Saviour.

My Father will be greatly missed by many but he will never be forgotten!

This website was created in effort to help my Mother and Father cope with some of the financial stresses that have been a result of unemployment, extremely high medical bills and the day to day cost of living.

Although my Father has passed on now and despite an already tremendous amount of money being raised, the reality of financial stress still looms. With that being said, we will be leaving this website open and available to those whom may want to make any further contributions.

I want to thank you all so very much for your generous donations, I am not sure where my Mother would now be without your outpouring of support.

God Bless xoxoxo

Hi there,

My name is Ryan Jones and I am asking all of you out there who believe in the power of prayer to please pray for my father.  Last Spring, my father Gary Jones received the news that all families pray they never hear.  He was diagnosed with Mesothelioma cancer.  Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that develops from transformed cells originating in the protective lining that covers many of the internal organs of the body including the lungs, heart and abdominal organs. The only known cause of Mesothelioma is exposure to asbestos.  My Father has mesothelioma in the plural sac surrounding his right lung, this can be very painful and uncomfortable and was told by physicians that he had four to eighteen months to live.  We believe that my Father was exposed approximately 30 to 40 years ago when he was working with products containing asbestos. Usually, it takes between 20 and 50 years to develop Mesothelioma, although recent cases have appeared within 5 years. There is no cure for Mesothelioma.

My Father has worked in the trucking industry for over 40 years and is now unable to work due to his condition. The cancer has not only taken its toll on my father's health but it has also made life very difficult financially.  My father has always been the main source of income and my mother is taking responsibility as full-time care-giver.

Family, friends and loved ones will be holding a benefit on September 22, 2012 at Rusty's Pub in Cloverdale, BC. On top of the benefit that we are holding, we have created this donation site as so many of our dear friends have been inquiring as to how they can donate since they are unable to attend the event. Thank you all so much for your generosity and support, it truly means so much to me and my family. During this difficult and painful time, no one should have the added burden of finances.  We want to make my Father's life a little more comfortable in any way we can during this battle with cancer.

My Dad has such a positive attitude and is a real inspiration to many.  His faith and trust in God has given him such an inner peace along with the strength and courage to face each day and all its challenges.  Our God is so amazing and is able to carry us through any adversity if we just trust and believe in Him.

Update:  My Father's cancer has spread to the left lung and the heart sac and has only 20-30%  use of his right lung. My mom took him to  emergency August 16th where he was diagnosed with congestive heart failure.  They removed 600 ml of fluid from around his heart, the normal heart has 50-60 ml. My mom credits God for revealing this concern to her in the middle of the night, the nurse told them that this was a lethal amount of fluid.  On September 11th my dad was taken to emergency where they drained two liters of fluid from the plural sac around the left lung.  Dad is back home and trusts in God for all his tomorrows for only God knows the plans he has for him.  He always tells the doctors that he has "THE GREAT PHYSICIAN" looking after him and is praying for a miracle if it be God's will.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site and please continue to pray for my dad.

God Bless,

Ryan Jones
