Brooke's Journey

For those of you who know this amazing child Brooke Ahriah Davis, you've had the pleasure of knowing how strong she is and how God can truly do the impossible.  Brooke was born with Down Syndrome on June 3, 2008. She spent the first 13 months of her life in the NICU at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. She has lived a medically complicated life with health issues such as tracheomalacia, esophageal atresia, heart defects, pulmonary hemorrhage, etc. She has undergone numerous surgeries and procedures. Through the years this has caused her to be in and out of the hospital. It was thought that Brooke would not live to see 1 years old, but she has definitely overcome those odds, and is now 11 years old.  Brooke loves school and has made it to the 6th grade. She has learned to walk with a walker, a little sign language, learned to use a communication device, and even make noises despite her trach. As you can see Brooke has always been a fighter and has proved everyone wrong.  Over the last 7 months Brooke's health has taken a turn for the worst. We've recently found out that only a quarter of her lungs are functioning. This has caused her to require larger amounts of oxygen and to become out of breath easier, fatigue, and even pale at times. Unfortunately, her fight will be coming to an end because her lungs will soon give out on her. Her doctors have tried everything they could including contacting doctors in different states and trying new treatments, but nothing has worked for her.  If the unfortunate happens and Brooke succumbs to her condition, her family will need much support. Therefore we are setting up this GoFundMe page to assist Brooke’s mother (Kendra Jones-Norwood) and her family with any medical expenses and funeral arrangements they will have. We appreciate everyone's thoughtfulness and prayerful consideration of supporting this cause. Thank you!
