Grandpa's Funeral

Donation protected
Hey family! As you know, a really great man passed away on Tuesday, October 3rd.

His passing was a complete shock to everyone, which has made it that much harder to deal with. However, he lived a long happy life and went peacefully in his sleep. Which I think is all anybody could really hope for.

I don't think that there is one person in this world who would have a negative thing to say about Grandpa. Some of the words I've heard people use repeatedly over the last few days to describe grandpa are: laid-back, selfless, strong, humble and generous. I am sure we could all agree. When I think of grandpa in relation to these characteristics, a few memories come to my mind.

I remember grandpa would pick me up in his little red convertible (remember that car!?) and drive me to my drama class in the Forks every single Monday in highschool; he never said much during those car rides, but I always knew that it made him happy to help. I also remember him slipping me $20 dollar bills when I was leaving his apartment and him telling me "not to tell granny". Typical...don't tell me that you and grandpa didn't have a similar secret to keep from Granny! When I think of grandpa , I think of a man who loved to drink his wine and play his music. But no matter how many drinks he had, he always had a slick smile on his face with his hands clasped behind his head. I know you know the pose I am talking about! He was always so darn amazing! Which brings me to my next point...

Such a special man deserves the most special celebration of life! As you may or may have not known, grandpa didn't have life insurance.  Therefore, there has been some financial struggle when it comes to costs associated with his death. Some of the costs we have been aware of so far are:

$2200-transportation and cremation services
$300-urn
$2000-columbarium storage (placement of urn in wall)
$500-obituary
$250-service

The people who have been working at the front line to arrange the service could really use some help! So if there is anything you are able to help with, it would be greatly appreciated! I assure you every dollar counts. All excess donations will be donated to Salvation Army. Which reminds me, I must also mention the help that Salvation Army has provided our family with.

Salvation has kindly offered to put on a service for Grandpa for just $2.50 per head. They are allowing us to use their facility and will have volunteers providing and preparing food and beverages for us. Salvation Army is a non-profit organization who helps those who are less fortunate and they are able to do so because kind people out there donate to this cause. Although they are giving us this very low rate, they do welcome donations so that they can continue to help people who are in our situation. So please, keep this in mind when donating!
