Abby Rogers - Project Uganda 2014

Dear Family and Friends,

This summer before my final year at H.B. Plant High School, I have been given the unique opportunity to travel with a team of my peers to Jinja, Uganda, Africa with South Tampa Fellowship Church. This is my 4th mission trip and will not be my last!

From July 18th through July 25th we will be traveling to local villages in and around the town of Jinja, near the source of the Nile River. The Mission Team and I will work with local pastors and churches to help meet the physical, mental and spiritual needs of those who participate in free medical, dental, and eye care clinics with our medical team. In turn, the Mission Team will work with the medical team to distribute medication, eye glasses, and dental supplies.

I especially look forward to working with the local orphaned children who are in need of our care, both spiritually and physically. We will also be going to local schools to share the gospel with children and to teach HIV/AIDS awareness. It is during these difficult times that I pray for those hearts that do not know Jesus and that they be changed through the power of prayer.

While there our team will distribute food to several hundred hungry families for a month. But more importantly, we will be teaching women to learn a trade in order to become self-sufficient.

I am very excited about the chance to minister to the community of Jinja!  We will need prayers that God will prepare us for our visit and help our efforts as we teach and minister the people in Uganda.
