On April 30, my partner, Chris, was complaining of abdominal pains. His doctor told him to go to the emergency room. He was admitted that night and told he has pancreatitis. The following night his breath were very short so they admitted him to the ICU. A few days later during a CAT scan he had seizures. I was called to come to the hospital immediately. When I got there, they had him sedated and was told to expect the worse. He was sedated for about 3 weeks. During that time, he was having issues with some other organs as well. It was a relief and saddening to hear it was going to be a long process; relief because there was still a future for him but sad because we didn't know how long he was going to be in this condition. We were told from the doctors he was dealing with the worst kind of pancreatitis called pancreatitis necrosis. The doctors kept saying if it wasn't for his age (35) he would not have been able to deal with this. We were extremely excited when he started opening his eyes and moving his hands. We knew we were moving into the right direction. This past Monday he was transferred to a long term care facility where he can continue his treatment and work on some physical therapy. He still in ICU but at least it was a change of scenery for him. Because he was sedated for so long, he does hallucinate from time to time. Of course this has turned our lives around completely. His mother and I tend to visit on a daily basis to keep him company. We have the best family, friends and coworkers anyone can ask for. Prayers and positive energy was definitely helping Chris get better. This September will be our 10 year anniversary of being together. And I know we will have many more years to come. On May 20, we were supposed to close on our first house. As of right now, they are still holding it for us but not sure for how long.
