Kari's Cancer Support Page

On behalf of our sister Kari, we are starting this page to help raise money to support her expenses associated with her ongoing battle to fight a rare form of Lymphoma. Anyone who knows any of us in our family, knows how difficult it is for us to ask for this type of help, but we know that Kari is going to need all the help and support she can get. It all happened so quickly, Kari wasn't feeling well for a few weeks, she wasn't herself. She went to the Dr. several times and they didn't know what was wrong, they kept running tests, blood work, thought it was her thyroid or she was dehydrated. Consequently, she ended up in the ER, after my other sister Stacy and I found her at home, completely not herself. This time the doctor there said she needed to be transferred to a place that could help her, they didn’t have the tools needed to do this at this ER, for they thought it was serious they suspected leukemia. But with so many other stats coming back off the charts, they weren't sure what else was wrong or if that was truly it. So, Kari was transferred to University hospital where after many more tests, they found out she had Burkitts Lymphoma, a rare form of lymphoma that needed to be treated with intense chemotherapy immediately in order to save her life. Kari is such a sweet, kind, sister, Aunt, friend, daughter...anybody that knows her, knows she has an incredible sense of humor, and kindness about her. She is an artist, an incredible artist. And, one of the first things she said to me after her diagnosis and first round of chemo (roughly 48 hours after being rushed into the hospital ICU) -after being poked and prodded, bruised and hooked up to all kinds of machines was, "Kimi, when this is all is done, I want to make a blanket, and I want to paint the faces of all the Drs. and Nurses who have helped me, and I want to put it together and put it on the blanket, so I can take that blanket and wrap it around me like a big hug." We know this is going to be a long process, but Kari can fight it. We thank you for your prayers, help, and support thru this difficult time.
