Praying For Jacobs Miracle

Donation protected
Jacob Looney is 11 years old and has Retinopathy of Prematurity also known as ROP. He was born at 28 weeks and weighed 2 lbs and was 13 inches long. Both of Jacobs retinas detached 3 times before he was 1 year old. Jacob was in the NICU for 4 & 1/2 months. Jacob has had other surgeries while in the NICU even coming home with a feeding tube that he had till he was 2. He overcame everything except his eye problems. He was left legally blind in his left eye but had almost perfect vision in his right eye. Jacob has wore glasses since he was 1 and did great with them until August 26th 2012 that Sunday was the day his life changed in a drastic way. Jacob's right retina (his good eye) detached. Jacobs doctor in Tulsa referred Jacob to a retina specialist in OKC and told Jacobs mom that this wasn't good. After meeting with the Dr in OKC he was scheduled for surgery to reattach the retina but it only stayed attached for a couple of weeks and then detached again. Since the first surgery in August 2012 there have been 4 surgeries to try to reattach Jacobs retina on his right eye it always works for a short time and then detaches. When Jacob was a baby both of his eyes detached at the same time and thankfully that hasn't been the case the past few years. Although he is legally blind in his left eye that is now the only eye he has to depend on. He is now comepletly blind his right eye. Currently Jacob has a corneal abrasion on his right eye that wont heal and his retina is detached again. He needs surgery to reattach the retina but that cant be done until the abrasion heals. If the abrasion doesn't heal they will have to remove his right eye. Jacob got a cornea contact patch May 22, 2014 after a month of other treatments has been unsuccessful. Jacob went to a new specialist May 30, 2014 for a second opinion on his cornea. After given a couple options Jacob has decided on his own that he wants them to go ahead and remove his right eye. For the past 2 years Jacob has been learning braille while also doing regular school work with the help of special equipment and teachers. Jacob is a very strong little boy and never worries about himself but always about others he likes to help everyone in need.
