This page is being created to help offset the tremendous amount of medical bills and other expenses Nickie and her family will be facing in the coming months. Please continue to send your positive vibes, love, and prayers to Nickie as she continues to show us just how strong she is!  " She is clothed with strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future"  ~Proverbs 31:25

A message from Nickie....
"To my friends and family, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate everyone's support. What I also want everyone to know is that the most important thing that I really need is prayers and positivity. For those of you who know or may not know, I have been diagnosed with stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer that has metastasized into my liver. Because I am triple negative, there is no cure for my cancer (yet) and I will be on chemo for the rest of my life. But with prayers, positive thinking and the marvels of modern medicine, I believe I can continue to live a fulfilling life, longer than whatever the expectancies are. If there is something I can do its educate people on IBC, the signs and symptoms and have people even learn from my mistake of waiting. Breast cancer does not have to present with a lump. Mine presented with changes in the breast tissue. I heard the words calcification from 2 different doctors and pre menopausal tissue changes. My PCP didn't sound too concerned, but still gave me a script for a mammogram. Where I went wrong is that I was going to start a new job at the end of the month and I didn't want to pay a double deductable and thought it could wait for my new insurance to kick in. But within 3 months, it spread quickly and the whole breast became hard. So please, if you have any changes to your tissue, or develop a red rash, not only request a mammogram but also a biopsy. Since IBC may not start as a lump, in the beginning it may not show up on a mammogram. Many times, doctors are unfamiliar with the symptoms, like mine. I told my doctor I had pain and she told me breast cancer does not usually present with pain. I never even knew there were different types of breast cancer and most people I tell don't either. This has been a very humbling experience. I still feel healthy and somewhat normal, lol, so prayers is what I need the most at this time to continue to live life to the fullest and stay positive! I appreciate all your kind and loving hearts."
