Haley's Lupus

Donation protected

My mom Haley was recently diagnosed with Lupus, testing positive in an antinuclear antibodies (ANA) test in May 2017 after going to a free clinic about a severe rash and a fever that wouldn't go away. Lupus is a serious, painful and chronic disease that affect many different parts of your body and organs, including the brain. Patients with lupus have a greater risk of suicide/suicide attempts due to the depression, confusion, and pain it can cause. My mom is battling very bad flairs that cause severe pain, fevers, and fatigue daily. She has no health insurance and cannot afford it, and only depends on VERY minimum care from a local free clinic. However they can not manage her Lupus and recommended her to see a rheumatologist. She is currently on 6 waiting lists for next year to see a specialist to help her.

The doctor prescribed her montelukast but she became severely depressed from it. My mom also already has kidney issues that causes her to have recurring painful kidney stones and also has a nodule on her right lung that has to be X-rayed every year. Its more crucial ever now to get her the care she needs and therapy to help her deal with her Lupus diagnosis. My mom is a hard worker and always helped put others first instead of herself. She really is one of the most selfless and compassionate people I know and it hurts me so much to see her suffering like this.

She doesn't like asking for help and does everything for herself even when she is sick, but I've become more and more worried about her health and well-being. My mom gave birth to me when she was 15 and has had a very difficult life. She was diagnosed two years ago with PTSD which also goes untreated and is worsened by Lupus. She was laid off of her job of 17 years last year, working for a government position as a hospice nurse. She is currently doing private duty for one patient and she is actively looking for another job but is having no luck.

Our goal is to raise enough money for her to be able to see a doctor that would accept cash to at least get her lupus under some sort of control and possibly receive much needed therapy and medication. The 'goal' is set to $2,000, but really any amount genuinely would help a lot and would go only to her receiving some sort of legitimate medical care.
