Support Erin Dick-Jensen, in memory of David Dick

It is with great sadness that we share the sudden passing of David Dick. Dave was an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Calgary and was currently on a one year sabbatical. He leaves behind his wife and soulmate Erin, many adoring family and friends, as well as fellow colleagues and students to mourn this tremendous loss.

Many people have asked how they can help. Although dropping off food and buying gifts of comfort is very much appreciated, the most tangible thing Erin needs right now is to cover immediate expenses and help get her back on her feet.

As Erin is a small business owner, she relied on Dave’s tenured salary, which is now non-existent. Due to this tragedy, it is understandable that Erin will need to take extended time off to grieve and heal. She will need a safety net to pay monthly home and business expenses, costs for therapy, loss of work expenses for her brother and partner who have travelled to Calgary from Toronto to help take care of her, funeral expenses (with the added complexity of Dave passing in Utah) and other unforeseen expenses that may come along.
