10/29- Sunday evening Nachole went into the ER with difficulty breathing, vomiting & dizziness, she was admitted to the ICU and put on life support. The diagnosis is broken heart syndrome most commonly in elderly women who suffer a traumatic event such as losing a spouse-it mimics a heart attack. Her heart was in distress and functioning at only 25%.
10/30-Due to an angiogram done in Nachole’s right arm a blood clot was formed, risking loss of mobility in that hand. She had surgery to remove the blood clot that evening and it was successful. She may or may not need physical therapy in that hand due to the amount of time blood wasn’t flowing to it.
10/31-Slowly improving, she went from 75% assistance to 50% assistance on the breathing machine. Fluid in her lungs has decreased & they reduced the sedation meds so she’s opened her eyes a bit but very briefly.
11/01-Nachole’s birthday!!! Nachole’s much more aware of noise & visitors today. She has gotten very agitated at times but the fluid in her lungs is gone & she’s dropped down to 40% assistance from the breathing machine. Come tomorrow morning they will begin breathing trials to see if they can removed the respirator all together.
11/02-As of early this morning her breathing tubes were removed. She is very young for this to happen and doctors are optimistic about her recovery. Nachole is physically weak but strong in mind & spirit. She has no problem communicating with us, we keep reminding her to take it easy. Things are looking up but she’s got a lot of work ahead of her and we want her to focus only on her own health. We can only speculate how much this hospital stay will be but what we do know for sure is that her insurance plan at work is a high deductible plan and that is about 6500. We are hoping to raise money to help cover the costs of her stay and relieve some of the weight on her shoulders so she can focus on getting better.
