Help Me Support Kimo with Hand-Cycling

Aloha Family and Friends,

I’m writing to ask for your support so I may assist Navy Veteran Kimo Akaka on his Ride2Recovery bike ride in Normandy, France on July 17-29. This is an exciting opportunity for him, and me, as all participants in this bike ride are by invitation only. While working with injured service members, I had the privilege of helping Kimo. Suffering from a stroke two years ago, he is now paralyzed on one side of his body and is unable to speak. Each day, he overcomes every day hurdles and is learning how to adjust to his new self. What may seem as insurmountable odds to some, Kimo has found inner strength and has achieved many of his dreams. Kimo has now been asked to join 130 wounded service members from the U.S. on a special Ride2Recovery bike trip to Normandy, France for the 70th Anniversary of D-Day.

This invitation is an honor and I was deeply humbled when the Ride2Recovery group also asked me to participate as Kimo’s assistant. Ride2Recovery (www.Ride2Recovery.com) will fully cover all of the injured soldiers costs, but since I am a civilian rider and assistant, the cost will be $3,200. I hope that you will consider making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goal. Every penny counts so any gift you can make will be greatly appreciated.
