My name is Dinah Gallien Knoblauch and I am Tim Gallien's sister. Most know me by my nickname (Dino) that I have answerd to since Jr. High ... many many moons ago!
I am posting this for my youngest brother that many of you have met some way, form or fashion throughout his career as a disc jockey in West Monroe/Monroe and the surrounding areas since he was just a teenager. You have probably met him while he was out working remotes for the radio stations or perhaps you've heard him over the radio, seen him on TV, working with West Monroe football, local dances, concerts, weddings and just about anywhere music is being played...he is there!
Tim has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4a Squamous Cell Carcinoma Throat Cancer. They have found it in his tonsil area and a couple of lymph nodes. He noticed an enlarged tonsil a few months ago but he thought it was just a sore throat with some swelling and thought it would get better in days. But to no avail the swelling continued to get a bit larger and he hoped and prayed it would go away but it didn't. He then went to the doctor to check on it and after a few doctor appointments, some tests and the removal of his tonsils, the diagnosis was Stage 4a Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Now, his next step is to begin treatments of chemo and radiation. However, due to the excruciating terms the doctors have expressed to him that take place for treating this area of the body, he is reaching out to find an alternative means of fighting this type of cancer. They are out there, you just have to find them, do the research, pray for a cure. Many people have beat cancer by choosing alternative paths and after much prayer this is what Tim feels led to do at this point. After days and nights of research, he has found the Gerson Therapy Clinic. They have a program to fight off cancer through nutrition, but it is costly to get a spot in this clinic. (For more info, Google the Gerson clinic for details). Tim is hoping he can make this happen and get accepted into the Gerson clinic for at least a couple of weeks. There is also special equipment he will need to purchase to continue the process at home.
So this brings me to the reason I am posting this page. This is something we all pray we never have to do and I had to argue it out with him to let me set this page up in his behalf. But thing is... now my little brother is fighting cancer and we are asking for your help. If you are reading this and you are able to help my brother through this life threatening ordeal and help him find an alternative way to beat this cancer...it does not matter if it is $1 - $5 ~ whatever you feel led to contribute ... every dollar helps him get closer to reaching his goal to get to this clinic for treatments. First and foremost he has to get to that clinic asap and every single penny will be applied to get him there as quickly as possible. Every second of the day that goes by is time we are losing on this battle. He needs to get there soon! Contributing to his cause will also help Tim out when he returns home with other necessities while unemployed. This is going to be a difficult and treacherous journey for him to maintain, but I think any of use would understand and probably be thinking right along with him that there has got to be another way.
The reason Tim is choosing not to have radiation and chemo at this point is because treatments are pure poison and so damaging to the area of the throat and of course your body. It also declines your quality of life with no guarantees. At the stage he is at, It only gives him a 20% chance of being alive in the next five years. There are possible side effects of no functioning kidneys, not being able to swallow or difficulty swallowing, having a trachea and feeding tube, during the treatments and possibly continous thereafter, pulling all of his teeth, necrosis of his jawbone, hardening of the tissues in his throat, lack of taste, plus ulcers and sores in his throat and mouth, just to name a few. God bless those that have endured these difficulties with this type of cancer, strong willed would be an understatement for you all. But toTim being told all this has been quite devastating and most frightening to even imagine. Tim feels he is suppose to try this first and is praying for a healing from a different direction.
Tim desires to live life to the fullest! He has 4 children, 2 girls, and 2 boys and he desires to be here for them for many years to come. He wants to someday get to meet his grandchildren. ( wouldn't he just be the coolest grandfather! ) He also wants to continue doing what he loves most...working in the entertainment business. He loves life and wants to beat this awful throat cancer! I don't want to lose my baby brother, I was so praying that if I live to be 100 years old, he would still be there too to spin a few records and dance with me in my wheelchair. We have always been fairly close and I know I can always count on him to be there for me. But right now I want to try to be there for him anyway I possible can. I could not let pride get in the way of him possibly finding that alternative cure we all are searching for and beating this cancer! With your contribution to his cause and lots and lots of prayers, he has faith that he will!
