The Cliff Notes: After the success of our initial lunch delivery with the Fifty/50 restaurant group, we are now excited to be partnering with the incredible folks at Scofflaw in Chicago to help keep their kitchens open, contribute to their employee relief funds, and donate lunch to the ~200 Northwestern Memorial Hospital ER and Medical ICU staff all at the same time. All we ask of you is a $20 donation!
Why we're doing this: Our healthcare workers are working tirelessly to help keep us safe, but with COVID cases rising hour by hour, many of our healthcare workers don't have time to eat. It may seem like a simple thing, but when you're running between patients tirelessly, you simply don't get time to think about yourself. We think we can all agree that food is critical to giving us energy. We also know our local restaurants in Chicago have been severely impacted by this pandemic, so we wanted to find a way to help both our local restaurants AND our healthcare workers! So we came up with the Buy a Healthcare Worker Lunch campaign.
How it works: By donating $20, you will be buying a healthcare worker lunch for the day, and also supporting a local restaurant. We want to be transparent about where your donation is going, so here it is: 50% of your donation goes to support the cost of food and delivery, while the other 50% goes to the restaurant's employee relief fund to help their staff that has been impacted by COVID. The meal itself, gets delivered to the ER and medical ICU staff at Northwestern Memorial. There are about 200 total staff members collectively in these departments, and if the support we get exceeds our current goal, we will roll this into even more donated lunches in the future!
Food heals people too - and right now, our healthcare workers and local restaurants alike could also use some TLC. It may not seem like much, but any little bit helps, and we'd love to show how Chicago can rise up and help out...even from the comfort of our own homes. We hope you'll join us in our mission to take care of the folks who have been taking care of us.
