Get Adam (and his hat) on the Road!

Hey guys I'm Adam (and yes, that's a red fedora in the picture). I wear it when I go out and about - it's kind of my thing.

I'm looking to raise money to get a scooter for myself to get me to and from work.

I work six to seven days a week at two part time jobs to make ends meet - both at world-famous theme parks, Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.  About three months ago, my car finally decided it was time to go off to The Big Junkyard in the Sky and blew its transmission to smithereens. The quoted cost to repair it ranged from $2400 to $3500, as it was a [heavily] used 1997 Lexus. I was always worried if something were to break on it, as I do not make enough money to buy neccesary parts for a Lexus, even one near twenty-years old. I was already living on ramen for dinner as it was.

With rent and bills, it was looking that trying to save that kind of money was going to be an uphill battle. Working for Disney and Unversal is in many ways a labor of love, as the pay is not as high as one would think. In the meanwhile, I was able to get enough money together to buy a 21-speed bicycle that would, at the very least, get me to and from work without having to walk, as I do not live anywhere near a bus line. Generally, I ride my back anywhere from twelve to twenty miles a day going back and forth from my apartment and work.  I usually leave my house three hours early to get to Universal on time, and two hours early for Disney - both because after bike riding for so long in the Florida sun I have to take a shower there. Below are links of my bike route from both my jobs:

Yesterday, I got out of work at Universal hoping to get a quick start on the bike ride home to avoid the rain, when I discovered someone had cut my lock from the bike stand and stolen my bicycle. Needless to say, I was heartbroken. I was luckily able to get a ride home from a very kind security officer who took pity on me after she took my report. However, I can't rely on pity to get me to and from work from both jobs, and right now I'm living paycheck-to-paycheck.

There are plenty of people in worse shape than me. I'm fortunate to have a roof over my head and food in my refrigerator, and i know that's more than some people can say on GoFundMe. I see people on here with some real life-or-death issues, and my heart goes out to them. I'm also not greedy - I'm not asking for, nor do I want, the moon and the stars. All I really need is a small reliable form of transportation to get me back and forth from work without having to bike ride twenty miles a day six or seven days a week. I work hard every day, and I don't want to start calling off work because I want to be a productive member of society.

That's why the money will be used for a scooter. I don't need anything fancy, and I'm not looking for a car because I'd rather not have another bill for insurance on my plate right now. A simple scooter doesn't require a motorcycle license and also doesn't require insurance. It's also far less expensive than buying a car, even a used one, which is why I've tried to keep the target goal as low as possible. Honestly I just need simple transportation that I can use to get me to-and-from work so I can continue being a productive member of society and not lose my jobs.

If there is anything  you guys can do to help with this, no matter how little, the amount of gratitude I would give back to each and every one of you would reach the sky. If, for whatever reason, the amount raised is more than I need to acquire my scooter, I plan on paying it forward through donating the remaining amount to The Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida, a fantastic organization that helps the homeless of Orlando get back on their feet.

Even if you can't help monetarily, I hope you can spare a second for a good thought for me. I will for you.
