Braxton's NAVIGATION stroller!!!

When you shine a pure light through a perfect diamond, a spectrum is born!  Our spectrum's name is, Braxton <3

Braxton is 9 years old and has a diagnoses of autism, yet autism no longer defines him.  Braxton is now defined by his amazing smile, infectious laugh, and his desire to community (he is non-verbal, yet if you are willing to listen you will hear so much).

Braxton has been in an inpatient program at Kennedy Krieger Institute in Baltimore, Maryland for almost 4 months and will be returning soon to our home in Idaho.  He has made huge progress with building his confidence, expanding his communication skills (using a picture exchange program), and has learned to control his aggressive behaviors himself to an over 80% decrease (associated with his autism), yet he still struggles navigating the world around him.  The simple tasks we take for granted on a daily bases such as walking in a store, sitting with our family for a meal, or attending a parade are all things Braxton truly desire to participate in, yet these activities over stimulate him in a manner he is not able to put into words.

I have found that utilizing a stroller to assist Braxton with navigating the world seems to HELP!  I have found that he is able to control his aggression and activily participate in activies in our community and our home if he is secure in his stroller. He eats meals with our family, attends parades, doctors appointments, shopping, walks, and etc.... with much success if he feels safe.  This is the stroller I currently use, but he has exceeded the weight capacity and I have injured my back by utilizing this stroller that he has clearly outgrown.

I have found an alterain stroller that I would like to purchase for Braxton to be able to safely navigate the world around him and provide him a safe place to sit while he participates in hometown parades, zoo, shopping, family functions/holidays, doctor appointments, family meals, and etc...  Braxton has worked hard to control his aggressive behaviors, yet the fact is the world around him still over stimulates him in a manner that he isn't able to communicate and inside his over stimuation he becomes so frustrated that most often he isn't able to control his aggression.

If I am able to provide him this stroller with a 5 point harness system and a cocoon type environment (which he can utilize into adulthood) where he feels safe and supported he is able to stay in control of his behaviors and participate in the world around him.  This stroller also provide me the confidence needed to take Braxton on outings and activities outside our home and also for him to participate in family activities in our home.

Thank you in advance for any donation you can contribute to helping me to get this wonderful stroller for Braxton.  He has many places to go and many people to meet and I know this will open up his opportunities and adventures.
