Josie's Medical Bills

Donation protected
On Thursday, December 13th, we had to rush Josie to the vet because she couldn't breath. When we got there her heart rate was over 200 beats per minute (120 is the normal rate for a stressed dog) and they had to place her in an oxygen tank. After a chest x-ray, a heart ultra sound, a consult with a cardiologist, and her first round of treatments they still don't know exactly whats causing her breathing issues and they had to keep her over night. The best case scenario is that she has advanced pneumonia or a pulmonary issue. The worst case scenario: she has lung cancer which would mean we would need to put her down. Yesterday, was hard. I've never felt more helpless. We're still in shock and completely devastated. I could barely sleep last night knowing that she wasn't in the house. Now, we're just playing the waiting game while we wait to see if the drugs start helping.

In the meantime, this one night stay and the first rounds of testing have already cost us $2,476.97 at Dove Lewis and $300 at our normal vet. And since, they haven't found the root of her breathing issues they want to administer additional tests and adjust her meds accordingly which guarantees that this whole ordeal will cost us at least another $1,000.

If you could donate anything, me and Chris would really appreciate it. Josie is such a special dog and has brought joy to everyone she's encountered. This has been such an unexpected and cruel surprise.
