9SD Scouts 2017 Taiwan Expedition

The 9th SurDel Scout Group is a youth organization located in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This group has over 100 youth in total, ranging in ages from 5 to 17 as well as 30+ adult volunteers (known as "Scouters"), all representing the various cultures found in the community in which it is based.
This summer, the older sections known as the Scout Troop (ages 11-14) and Venturer Company (ages 15-17) are going to Taiwan for a two-week visit, thanks to the international Scouting connections originated from the group's members of diverse cultural background. The TE’17 team consists of 15 youth and 7 Scouters, the majority of whom will be making their first trip to the island. Once in Taiwan, they will link up with several Scout groups in different municipalities, perform service projects to better the Scouting experience for Taiwanese Scouts and local communities, and, of course, go for outdoor and urban adventures!
This self-initiated expedition will benefit both Canadian and Taiwanese Scouting youth with first-hand cultural exchange experiences. This is an amazing opportunity for our youth to immerse themselves in a culture from a different part of the world. It is a true experience of a lifetime; one where we challenge our youth to try things they do not normally have a chance to do.
To fund the expedition, each participant of the TE'17 team initially provided $1000 put towards the flight and other expenses. The TE'17 team has been reaching out to many channels for fundraising. This additional funding will greatly enhance the experiences our youth will enjoy.
After more than 8 months of intensive fundraising, we have managed to reduce the additional per-participant costs to $400. The entire 22-person team would be very appreciative of any support you might be able to offer.
