Menstrual Relief for Flood Victims in Pakistan

Donation protected
The catastrophic floods in Pakistan have destroyed homes and businesses, and people have lost their homes and livelihood. More than 33 million people are affected by the floods. Almost half of them are girl, women and all menstruating individuals, and many will be menstruating during this time of crisis with little to no resources.

During evacuation, dislocation or relocation, menstrual products are unavailable, resulting in extended use of soiled products or bloodstained clothing. Menstruating individuals in flood-affected areas are currently using leaves, plastic bags, damp rags, damp newspapers and many other unhygienic materials, which can lead to infections and diseases. These unmet menstrual health needs also become a source of shame, self-consciousness and embarrassment for menstruating individuals. Menstruating individuals are often at the receiving end of abuse and violence.

In any humanitarian crisis, menstrual health needs are often overlooked. In a country like Pakistan, where most relief workers and receivers of the relief packages are men, Menstruation remains a taboo, and menstrual health needs are conveniently neglected. We need to understand that menstruation does not stop during disasters.
HER Pakistan is working around the clock to send menstrual products (all kinds) and supplies to flood-affected areas. We are working in partnership with various government, civil society organizations and social activists to ensure menstruators have appropriate products during this crisis. We work closely with partners and local leaders on the ground to find out what menstruating individuals need send just that. We are listening to the people we are serving.

Every donation counts!

For 1 USD, you can help us send a period kit (including menstrual products, underwear and soap) for one menstruating individual.

We have already sent period products and/or kits for more than 5,000 individuals in various areas in Balochistan and Sindh, including relief camps in Karachi.
