Writing Workshop Tuition

Donation protected
I am excited to announce that I have been accepted to the 2014 Bread Loaf Writers' Conference! (For more information about Bread Loaf click here http://www.middlebury.edu/blwc). For those not familiar with conferences and workshops in the writing world, this is a very big deal and an important opportunity for a young up-and-coming writer, such as myself. In the past, I have been accepted to prestigious writing workshops based on the merit of my writing, but have not been able to attend because I did not have the money to pay the tuition fee. Because of the importance of this conference, I have decided that I cannot pass it up and I must at least try to raise the funds to attend. Being able to attend would be major for me, considering I am not in school right now and won't be able to apply to grad school until I pay off my undergrad tuition bill, which I am currently in the midst of doing. Participating in professional writing opportunities like the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference helps me to stay relevant and is essential to the momentum of my writing career.

Tuition for the conference, which takes place in Ripton, VT August 13-23 2014, is $2,935 ($1,930 for tuition and $1,005 for room and board). I am also responsible for my transportation there (by plane). I am hoping to raise most of this amount by the end of June--around the time fees are due. If I can get 600 folks to donate just $5 or 300 folks to donate $10, I will meet my goal and be able to attend.

Funding writers and artists is so important because, unfortunately, in our current paradigm society awards artists who can afford these sort of opportunities and those who cannot afford, but who may still have exceptional talent and art to contribute, are passed over.
