Nate Malan Recovery Fund

On April 26, Nate Malan was biking in Canyonlands National Park.  He is an experienced cyclist and has logged thousands of miles in recent years.  Nate had just begun  Day 1 of a four day trip on the White Rim Road in Canyonlands National Park.   After riding only 3.5 miles from the visitors center Nate veered of the road and fell nearly 35 feet off a rocky cliff and onto the dirt road below.  He was non-responsive after the fall.  There were medical personnel in the group who did everything they could to keep him stable and breathing until additional medical support could arrive.  Over the next 45 minutes park rangers, EMTs, and a medical helicopter arrived on the scene.  Nate was intubated (breathing tube) and stabilized as much as possible in the field then flown by medical helicopter to Grand Junction, Colorado.

Nate is currently in the ICU at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado.  He is intubated and on a ventilator. He suffered 12 broken ribs, a bruised lung, multiple fractures in his pelvis, a broken humerus and bleeding in his brain.  At times he has been able to wiggle fingers and toes upon request.  The road in front of him is a long road with a steep climb.  We can't do much to help him there but we can help reduce the financial stress his family is facing with medical bills growing by the minute.

Nate is a hard-working individual.  He is a caring husband and father to 6 great kids.  People who know Nate are very aware  of how happy and strong he is.  He has had so many trials but you would never know it.  Nate always rises above the challenges life throws at him.  He has never let his challenges get in the way of his determination to live life without limitation.  Nate is always the first one to help anyone in need but never asks for anything in return. He and his family will need help during the long and difficult journey that lies ahead.

Thank you for helping us help Nate.  Every donation to Nate Malan will help reduce the financial burden that is upon him and his family.
