<div>With sensitivity and a degree of urgency, we are writing to update you about Leda and Ricky’s situation which greatly needs our attention and care. Please read this whole message.

<div>Unfortunately, the chemo has not been successful and Leda is still living with the cancer and the very difficult health condition it has created for her. At the doctor’s advice, Leda has stopped chemotherapy and is now moving into home-based palliative care. The money raised so far has enabled her to get a life-saving surgery, but there have been many additional bills that they have been unable to pay. Their credit cards are maxed out and insurance will no longer pay for treatments. Further, Ricky is unable to go back to work as he needs to spend these days with Leda.

<div>What is needed right now is a huge campaign effort to help them raise the money they need to pay their outstanding bills, pay for palliative care, and pay for ongoing treatments and basic life necessities. It is no small number: We are aiming to raise an additional $120,000 and hopefully as soon as possible. 
</div>

<div>Leda remains optimistic and with a strong spirit. She is focused on regaining a basic balance internally that will enable her to continue living her life living pain-free with her husband. The doctor has told her that she has between six months and one year to live, and she continues to keep oriented towards the possibility of life continuing beyond then and carrying on in the best way possible. Many people continue on beyond these stated timeframes.

<div>In July 2022, Leda was diagnosed with uterine cancer. To help foster a beautiful healing, we won't write all of the details here–instead, please understand that our friends Leda and Ricky need our help.

<div>Leda has helped thousands of people deepen their health by teaching them about wild foraging &amp; life-giving foods they can make for themselves. She has taught generations of dancers the artistry and communicative possibilities of dance. Now, it is our turn to help her.

<div>Two days before her 60th birthday, Leda will go into emergency surgery to have the tumor removed. Surgery is on August 4th, and her 60th is on August 6th. <strong>As a birthday gift, Leda and Ricky are asking us to donate to this fundraiser to help cover the medical expenses, and to share the fundraiser with our networks. </strong>

<div>On 8/4, Leda &amp; Ricky learned the procedure would cost $7,500 more than they originally understood. We've raised the goal of the fundraiser to reflect the increase + processing/platform fees.

<div>-Approximately $20,000 for the surgery in excess medical fees not covered by insurance

<div>-Approximately $5,000 for post-op recovery &amp; unanticipated fees
