Your charitable help will allow our Foundation to pay for one thousand DNA analyses for potential bone marrow donors and make their data available to the Ukrainian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. This will allow us to search for the right donor for bone marrow transplantation for a person with blood cancer.
In Ukraine, at the moment, our registry is the only one that started to popularise stem cell donation and the one that started to register potential donors. However, there are many patients who can not find donors in the global registry, which has 35 million donors from around the world.
The purpose of our organisation is the formation of the Ukrainian register of bone marrow donors by volunteering people who wish to become potential donors of bone marrow- and thus - to give a chance to have a complete recovery for the seriously ill adult patients and children who need bone marrow transplantation. It is important to have as many potential donors in the register as possible. Then there is a real chance to find a genetic twin for a person with blood cancer. And this requires those who wish to provide their bone marrow and financial support for obtaining the results of their DNA analysis.
In October, the Charitable Foundation "Ukrainian Bone Marrow Donor Registry " was included in the list of world registries.
